HOMEWORK FLOWMADAM

System MADAM

Ordering supplies is time consuming.

This is the usual non-IT way of doing it. The construction workers at working location write down the order on a piece of paper, takes it to the fax machine which sends it over the supplier's order department, where it is manually computer registered and sent to the manufacturer, and there the order is re-registered manually once again. Even worse, someone picks up the receiver and orders supplies via the telephone, wasting your time as well as the suppliers.

This process can be simplified. We have worked out a system called MADAM,
(Supplies Administration through Computer Messaging), which speeds up the process considerably.

Now it works like this: The workers use a hand held bar code reader. The computer digitally transmits the bar code, representing the goods, and the number of items needed. The transmission is performed the intance the hand held computer is docked in its cradle or via radio link and the data is automatically received by the correct supplier's computer.

If you are the supplier this systems by easing the work load for your customers makes them more loyal to buy from you. It also increases ordering reliability since the risk of mistakes in ordering is minimized.
